The new Lion Cub program is a pilot program. Our council (a geographical area compositing Santa Clara and most of San Benito and Monterey counties) is one of a few in which this is offered in 2016.

The flyer you may have received in school shows Cub Scouts racing Pinewood Derby cars. Lions will not be building or racing those; that is not part of this pilot program. That is why on that flyer it said to read this web page before signing up; we want to explain the Program and answer as many questions as possible ahead of time.

Schedule: Each month through May there is one Lion meeting per month and one activity. We will not be with the rest of the Pack until February's Blue & Gold Dinner, again in April for the Water Rockets, in May for the Bridging, and possibly one other Pack meeting.

Age requirement: Must be a boy in kindergarten, 5 years old by Sept. 30 and not yet 7.

Costs

  • youth T-shirt $11.00 (required)
  • youth cap $14.50 (optional)
  • adult shirt choice: $22.00 Lion polo or $10.00 Pack 794 Class B (T-shirt)
  • registration $25.00 without Boys Life (magazine) or $37.00 with.
  • book (TBA, probably $11)

A Lion den is supposed to have between 6 and 8 boys, but can be as few as 5 and as many as 9. Once we have at least 5 Lions and their adult partners committed to attending an opening meeting, we will call that meeting at a local park. If we get at least 5 committed to the Lion program from that meeting through May, 2017, we will register and

We will have an initial, non-uniformed meeting to make sure we have between 6 and 9 committed. Please bring a checkbook to this meeting just in case we "go for it."
